In Thailand, women are no longer willing to stay silent and live with a culture of rape.
Launched in 2015 by a young activist, the ThaiConsent campaign is opening spaces for men and women discuss consent.
the project came out to be a platform where people of my generation and the public can exchange ideas .
The thaiconsent.org project (https://thaiconsent.org/) started in 2015. The idea came from seeing many friends and my entourage talking about sexual abuse cases and how the victims struggle to obtain justice; and to make things worse, they are accused of causing the sexual abuse by the Thai society rooted in a misogynist way of thinking.
I was interested in the concept of power relations that I believe is an important dimension while discussing the issue of consent.
As an artist myself, I wanted to incorporate art to express my view about consent, sexuality and power relationship
As a platform
Where people of my generation and the public can get information, knowledge and exchange ideas about sexual consent, power relations, gender justice, gender equality and political feminism.
Now, the Thaiconsent group is composed of around 60+ artivists.
We have 1 full time staff and 60+ volunteer contributors from various socio-political background who contribute actively to write articles and papers and organize activities to make our voice heard in the Thai public sphere, and hopefully in the international community of feminists and gender justice.
Our work bases on communication and platform for multidisciplinary creation. We mainly work with artist, activist, content creator and media.
